(Ringsted)– An Armstrong man faces charges after a vehicle he was driving collided with an Emmet County Sheriff’s deputy’s squad car Sunday.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office says the deputy was parked in front of the Ringsted city hall when he noticed a vehicle sliding sideways toward the patrol car from behind. The vehicle, driven by 29-year-old William Roehler of Armstrong, collided with the squad car and came to rest across the street.
Roehler was arrested for operating while intoxicated…second offense; no insurance and reckless driving. He was booked into the Emmet county jail and was released on his own recognizance the following day.
No injuries were reported to Roehler or the deputy.
$2,5000 in damage was estimated to the patrol car; Roehler’s vehicle sustained an estimated $2,000 in damage.
The incident took place around 4:00 a.m. Sunday.
