(Sioux City)– Three men who illegally re-entered the United States from Hondura and Guatemala have entered guilty pleas in U.S. District Court in Sioux City.
25-year-old Juan Corrales-Santos of Honduras, 32-year-old Sergio Diaz-Perez and 22-year-old Rodulfo Perez-Escalente…both of Guatemala, were each convicted of one count of illegal re-entry.
According to court documents, Corrales-Santos had been previously removed from the U.S. on July 30th, 2008. He was encountered by Homeland Security Investigations in the Sioux county jail on December 15th of last year while he was incarcerated for no driver’s license, no insurance and failure to report an accident.
Diaz-Perez had been previously removed from the U.S. on October 19th, 2009. He was encountered by Homeland Security Investigations in the Emmet county jail on November 25th of last year while he was incarcerated for domestic assault.
Perez-Escalente had been previously removed from the U.S. on August 19th, 2006. He was encountered by Homeland Security Investigations in the Sioux county jail on December 13th, 2010 while he was incarcerated for public intoxication.
All three remain in the custody of a U.S. Marshal pending sentencing which will be scheduled once a pre-sentence report is complete.
They face up to two years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, a $100 special assessment and up to a year of supervised release.
