(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake High School Mock Trial team has returned home from the regional tournament as champions.
The team was undefeated again this year, bringing home the first place trophy.
The team now heads to state competition March 24th-26th.
In addition to the team’s first place victory, several members of the team received all-regional honors. Nigel Hanson, Elizabeth Johnson, Nick O’Brien and Dana Potter received All-Region Attorney awards; Ashley Greig and Teesha Hayes received All-Region Witness awards.
Four members of Spirit Lake’s second team also came home with honors. Megan Johnson and Tyler Schmitz received All-Region Attorney awards and Dondi Schmidt and Laura Tinker received All-Region Witness awards.
This year’s trial was based on a real case from Pennsylvania in which a student sues his school and a computer company for invasion of privacy.
