Customers of Alliant Energy are being reminded of an opportunity to gain assistance with covering their heat and energy costs. Applications can be submitted for the Low-Income Heating Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) through April 30.
A family of four cannot earn more than $33,075 annually. Households will only get a couple-hundred dollars and local community action agencies receive thousands of applications. More than 10,000 customers have qualified and used LIHEAP, making it even more crucial for households to act quickly.
The application can be found online by visiting dcaa.iowa.gov and clicking on the link for “Bureau of Energy Assistance”.
Alliant Energy also reminds customers that the winter moratorium will end April 1, and if they are behind on their bills, customers need to begin making billing and payment arrangements now to get caught up. Otherwise they run the risk of having their power disconnected.
