(Spencer)– A Spencer man faces charges in connection with the theft of two vehicles earlier this week.
Spencer police say they received a report shortly before 8:00 a.m. Monday of a vehicle that had been taken from the Dyno’s Convenience Store. It was found a short time later in a ditch at the South “T”, or the junction of Highways 18 and 71.
A short time later, the Spencer Communications Center received a call reporting a man had entered an apartment and had taken keys to a vehicle that was then seen leaving the area. Officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of the one reported missing and attempted to pull it over. The driver refused to stop, leading officers on a pursuit that ended a short time later when the vehicle traveled into a farm field and got stuck in the mud.
The driver, 25-year-old Christopher Brown of Spencer was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated, eluding and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
Minor damage was reported to both vehicles.
Spencer police were assisted by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
