(Spirit Lake)– A firm that provides mental health services to patients in Dickinson and surrounding counties is looking to expand its presence in Spirit Lake.
Kim Scorza of Season’s Center for Mental Health told the Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday they’re planning to offer additional psychiatric and therapy services at their current office on Lake Street, along with the possibility of basing a full-time psychiatrist and nurse practitioner out of the office.
Scorza added they’re also looking into the possibility of moving the office on Lake Street to a larger location and have been in contact with Lakes Regional Healthcare. But she says Seasons is currently locked into a lease on the existing location. Scorza says the owner of the building has indicated he may be willing to allow the lease, which doesn’t come due until December of next year, to lapse early if Season’s Center can find another tenant.
Scorza added the demand for services at Seasons Center is also increasing…especially among children in the region.
She added it appears the financially troubled agency may have turned the corner. She says Seasons Center posted a profit in February. That followed the elimination of 17 positions; a decrease in travel and freezes on pensions and training.
