(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake school board has set May 9th as the date for a public hearing on the possible sale of several parcels of land near the school district’s former administrative offices at 900 20th Street.
The district has received a $100,000 offer on 2.25 acres of land from a firm calling itself “Spirit Lake Crossings”. The land is located on the west side of the district’s property near 20th and Jackson Avenue. It does not include any of the existing buildings.
The developer is planning to build townhomes on the site.
The city has scheduled a public hearing on a proposal to vacate right-of-way for a street and alley that is platted but does not actually run through the lots. The city council Tuesday set that hearing for April 26th. Under the proposal, the city would vacate the right-of-way in exchange for the school district allowing the city to use the former administration building while any construction is underway on a new city hall.
