Hwy 18 Road Work To Get Underway

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– More road work is about to get underway in the area, despite the wintry weather.

The Iowa Department of Transportation’s Cherokee construction office says hot-mix asphalt resurfacing will get underway Monday (4/18) on a stretch of Highway 18 between Clay county road B-19 and Highway 71 near Spencer.

The work will continue through late July, weather permitting.

Traffic through the construction zone will be limited to one lane with motorists being assisted through the area by flaggers and a pilot car.

Officials say the road will be returned to normal traffic patterns when workers aren’t present.

Motorists are reminded to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are atleast double in work zones.
