Superior Crash Results In Possible Injury; Backs Up Traffic On Hwy 9

November 22, 2014

(Superior)– A two-vehicle collision this (Thurs.) morning on Highway 9 on the west edge of Superior resulted in possible injuries to one of the drivers, backed up traffic for awhile, and resulted in a considerable amount of property damage.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says vehicles driven by Mikayla Hargus of North Mankato, Minnesota and Karlee Schneekloth of Jackson were both eastbound. Authorities say Schneekloth collided with the rear of the vehicle driven by Hargus, who was slowing to turn into the Softtail Saloon. The impact of the collision caused the vehicle Hargus was driving to spin around, coming to rest facing west.

Hargus sustained possible injuries and was going to be taken to the hospital by a friend. No injuries were reported to Schneekloth who was cited for following too closely.

$5,000 in damage was reported to a 2005 Dodge Stratus driven by Hargus and owned by Vet’s Oil Company in Jackson. Damage to a 2007 Mazda Schneekloth was driving was also put at $5,000.

The collision resulted in the highway being shut down to traffic for awhile due to a considerable amount of debris that was scattered over the road.

Officers were on the scene a little more than an hour.
