Teens Overdose On Drugs & Alcohol At Spencer Party; Several Wind Up In Hospital Emergency Room

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A gathering early Saturday at a Spencer residence where authorities say several teens were allowed to bring alcohol and prescription drugs resulted in the arrest of a man who’s accused of hosting the event.

Spencer police say 20-year-old Andrew Sunblad of Spencer was charged with violating the city’s Social Host ordinance. Lawson says Sunblad is NOT accused of providing any of the alcohol or pills.

Police Chief Mark Lawson tells KUOO news the investigation stemmed from a report officers received from the Emergency Room at Spencer Hospital stating they had been treating several area high school students for overdoses of drugs and alcohol.

Upon investigating officers learned several of those who attended the gathering brought some unknown prescription pills that were then distributed to those who were in attendance.

As a result, police say atleast three of the partygoers wound up at the hospital with what was described as “various medical concerns”.

A 16-year-old, who’s name wasn’t released, was charged with delivery of a controlled substance, an aggravated misdemeanor. He’s accused of bringing the prescription medication to the gathering and distributing it to the other young people who were there.

Lawson says the case remains under investigation.
