(Milford)– There’s no word as to the cause of a fire last (Wed.) evening that damaged a tractor in a building at 1938 220th Street of rural Milford.
A Dickinson County Sheriff’s Deputy was the first on the scene and reported the tractor was fully engulfed.
Milford firefighters arrived a short time later and requested mutual assistance from the Lake Park Fire Department to help haul water to the scene.
Soon after arriving on the scene firefighters learned a person was believed to be in the building trying to get equipment, but it was discovered he had exited the building.
Some farm chemicals being stored in another part of the building weren’t threatened by the fire.
Firefighters were called to the scene shortly after 7:30 p.m. They were there for about an hour.
The Milford Fire Department was assisted by the Lake Park Fire Department, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Milford Police Department.
As firefighters were cleaning up from that blaze, they were called to a grass fire in a ditch near 1983 250th Avenue. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish it by using hand tools and only a small amount of water. They were on the scene there for only a few minutes.
