(Estherville)– A professor at Iowa Lakes Community College has been selected to present at two national conferences.
In June, Science Professor Dr. Robert Klepper attended the American Association of Community College’s Broadening Impact: National Science Foundation-funded Projects at Two-Year Colleges Conference in Washington, D.C.
The only representative from Iowa, Klepper’s presentation was on the success Iowa Lakes students have had as a result of the National Science Foundation grant the college is a recipient of. Klepper says 144 students participated as Infinity Scholars and received grants to attend college. He says 92 percent of those students completed an Associate’s degree though Iowa Lakes within three years.
In October, Klepper will present at the League for Innovation 2011 STEMtech conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The conference is designed for educators, industry leaders and others to discuss increasing student access in those areas.
Dr. Klepper is an Iowa Lakes alumnus. He received his Master’s Degree at Iowa State University and PhD at Columbia Pacific University.
