Lake Protective Association Reps. To Meet With DNR Head

(Spirit Lake)– The head of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will get an earful from lakes area protective associations at an event set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 20th at the Sami Center in Spirit Lake.

DNR Director Richard Lande will meet with the representatives and address a number of concerns dealing with aquatic invasive species, the number of Lake Patrol officers, and state park overviews, among other issues.

The Okoboji Protective Association will hold its annual meeting a half-hour prior to the start of the session with Lande. The OPA meeting will start at 2:00 p.m. at the Sami Center and will conclude in time for the start of the session with Lande.

Meanwhile, another lakes area protective association, the East Okoboji Lakes Improvement Corporation, holds its annual meeting this Saturday (Aug. 6th) at the Dickinson County Nature Center. Coffee and rolls will be served at 8:30 a.m. with the meeting itself starting at 9:00 a.m. A DNR representative will give an update on aquatic invasive species.
