Plane Clips Power Lines Near Milford

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– Authorities are trying to track down the pilot of a cropdusting plane that clipped some power lines near Milford this (Thurs.) morning.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says an employee with the Dickinson County Secondary Roads Department was grading in the 2400 mile of 235th Street southeast of Milford when he reported that an airplane that had been spraying a nearby corn field had clipped a pair of power lines.

The downed lines caused 235th Street, just west of of 250th Avenue, to be closed for a short period of time while crews with Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative worked to repair them. The road was reopened a short while later.

Authorities say they have no information on the make or model of the plane that was involved. Damage to the plane apparently was minimal as it was able to fly away from the scene.

Anyone that may have seen an aircraft flying in that area at that time is asked to contact the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Dickinson County Secondary Roads Department, Dickinson County Emergency Management and Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative.
