(Spencer)– Minor injuries were reported Monday in a collision involving a car and a semi in the 3,000 mile of Highway 71 (north of Spencer) in Clay county.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 17-year-old Emma Barber was driving a 1996 Cadillac and 33-year-old Jeramy Hansen of Holstein was driving a 2005 Peterbilt semi tractor-trailer. Authorities say both were traveling northbound in the right-hand lane. Deputies say Barber, who was in front of Hansen, signaled to make a left-lane change, but instead cut back into the right lane in front of the semi, resulting in a collision.
The car driven by Barber came to rest in the center median; the semi driven by Hansen overturned, coming to rest on its side in the right lane of the highway.
Minor injuries were reported to both drivers, but neither sought immediate treatment.
Severe damage was reported to both the Cadillac and the semi.
Barber was cited for improper use of lanes.
