(Alton)– A single-vehicle crash earlier this week in Sioux county injured a Spirit Lake woman.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 77-year-old Betty Lamer of Spirit Lake was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer southbound on Highway 60 about a mile and-a-half south of Alton when she apparently lost consciousness. Lamer then lost control of the vehicle which went into the median and struck a culvert. It then became airborne for about 20 feet before landing back in the median.
Lamer was transported to the Orange City hospital where she was treated for injuries sustained in the incident. There was no word on the extent or nature of the injuries.
About $4,000 in damage was estimated to the vehicle.
The crash took place around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Orange City Fire Department and Alton Fire and Rescue personnel.
