(Dickens)– A crash involving a semi-tractor Saturday on Highway 18 near Dickens killed an eastern Iowa man and injured a child.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Joseph Soukup of Allerton, Iowa was driving a semi-tractor westbound when he lost control, crossed the center line and went into the south ditch. The tractor came to rest on its top.
Soukup was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, three-year-old Jolie Soukup, was treated for minor injuries at Spencer Hospital and was released.
The crash took place shortly before noon.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, Dickens Fire and Rescue, Spencer Fire and Rescue, Spencer Hospital paramedics and the Clay County Medical Examiner.
Sheriff Randy Krukow says the crash remains under investigation.
