Ceremony To Honor Iowa Court Of Appeals Chief Judge Rosemary Sackett

(Des Moines)– A public ceremony is scheduled for Friday to mark the retirement of Iowa Court of Appeals Chief Judge Rosemary Sackett.

Sackett, who’s from Okoboji, is retiring because she has reached the mandatory retirement age on 72 for Iowa judges.

She is the longest serving judge in the history of the Iowa Court of Appeals. Sackett was appointed to the court in 1982 and appointed Chief Judge in 1999.

She was born in Fort Dodge and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Buena Vista College and her law degree from Drake University.

Friday’s ceremony is scheduled for 2 P.M. in the Supreme Court courtroom of the Judicial Branch Building in Des Moines.
