Spencer Police Investigate Rash Of Burglaries And Attempted Burglaries

(Spencer)– Spencer police are investigating several burglaries and attempted burglaries reported over the past couple of days.

One such report came in shortly before 7:00 a.m. Monday. A 20-inch Huffy bike and a 20 pound propane tank valve were reported missing from a residence in the 1,000 block of Fairview Avenue in Spencer.

Police received a report a short time later of an attempted burglary at a business located in the 2600 block of Highway Boulevard. Officers say a vehicle was used as a tool to try to gain entry to the business. About $5,000 in damage was estimated to a garage door and the vehicle, with $300 in damage reported to a metal entry door.

Police were called to another attempted burglary in the 2200 block of Highway Boulevard. Damage was reported to a walk-in door; some wooden stairs and a vehicle that was parked in the parking lot.

Spencer police also investigated a burglary in the 200 block of West 21st Street Monday. A lock on a door was damaged along with a window to a machine room, some windows on the roof and a fence was damaged.

Police say most of the incidents took place sometime between this past Saturday and early Monday. Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Spencer Police Department.
