No Injuries Reported In Combine, Field Fire

November 22, 2014

(Sioux Valley, Mn.)– No injuries were reported Thursday in a combine and field fire just north of the Iowa/Minnesota border in Jackson county.

The Lake Park Fire Department was called to scene at 71588 400th Avenue in Jackson county around 2:30 p.m. Upon arriving firefighters found about an acre of a soybean field on fire, along with a combine.
Firefighters were quickly able to extinguish the field and worked about a half hour putting out the combine.

Fire Chief Brandon Ehret says it appears a rock got inside the combine causing a spark that ignited under the cab.

Minor to moderate damage was reported to the combine, owned by John Meyer.

The Lake Park Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Dickinson County Emergency Management, local farmers and the owner of the combine.
