(Spirit Lake)– No injuries were reported this (Tuesday) morning in a car fire in Spirit Lake.
Spirit Lake Fire Chief David Kollasch tells KUOO news firefighters were called to the scene on Hudson Avenue near Okoboji GM Toyota and Fed Ex around 5:49 a.m. Upon arriving he says firefighters found the rear of a 1969 Volkswagon bug on fire on the side of the road. The driver, Scott Lemke of Spirit Lake, managed to get out unharmed.
Kollasch says the fire was due to a malfunction in the vehicle’s engine compartment.
A dollar estimate of damage wasn’t immediately available.
Firefighters were on the scene about 45 minutes.
