Hwy 18 Collision Results In Minor Injuries

November 22, 2014

(Sheldon)– Minor injuries were reported Monday in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 18 about a mile west of Sheldon.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 20-year-old Johnathon Miller of Sidney, Iowa was westbound when he turned into the path of an eastbound vehicle driven by 19-year-old Travis Otto of Cherokee.

Otto refused treatment on the scene; Miller was transported to Sanford Medical Center in Sheldon where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

$5,000 in damage was estimated to a 1994 Mazda Protégé driven by Otto; damage to a 2002 Dodge Neon driven by Miller was estimated at $6,000.

Miller was cited for failure to yield upon making a left turn.

The collision took place shortly before 5:00 p.m.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Sheldon ambulance, fire, rescue and Police Departments.
