Burn Bans Likely To Continue Into Winter

November 22, 2014

(Undated)– Fire and Emergency Management officials in some northwest Iowa counties say burn bans in some areas will likely remain in effect well into the winter–until we get significant snow cover.

They say the extremely high fire danger continues and that no relief is in sight, with only slight chances of light rain in the forecast this weekend into early next week.

Burn bans remain in effect indefinitely for Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Plymouth, Pocahontas and Sioux counties in northwest Iowa.

Anyone caught violating the ban is subject to being cited with a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine.
