November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Minor injuries were reported Sunday in a two-vehicle collision on the south edge of Spencer.

The Spencer Police Department says 44-year-old James Steffens of Primghar was eastbound on 11th Southwest and was turning left into the Bomgaar’s parking lot. Police say 39-year-old Travis Spoo of Emmetsburg was westbound and was also attempting to turn into the lot when the two collided.

A passenger in Spoo’s vehicle, 76-year-old Beverly Spoo of Emmetsburg, was transported to Spencer Hospital complaining of neck and side pain. She was treated and released.

Two passengers in Steffen’s vehicle, 47-year-old Linda Schlotfeldt of Primghar and 13-year-old Payton Steffens also of Primghar, were treated on the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.

Travis Spoo was cited for failure to yield upon making a left turn.

$6,500 in damage was estimated to a 2003 Ford Taurus driven by Travis Spool; damage to a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country van driven by Steffens was put at $2,500.

The collision took place shortly after 2:30 p.m.
