The Minnesota DNR is urging deer hunters to exercise caution after a rash of tree-stand accidents has claimed the lives of three Minnesota hunters since the firearms deer opener. Several other hunters have been hurt.
DNR Enforcement Education Program Coordinator Mike Hammer says stands should be placed as close to the ground as practical. He notes that even a short fall can cause spinal injuries or death. Hunters are urged to check their treee stands and safety belts beofre and during the hunting season.
