(Estherville)– A single-vehicle rollover Friday in Emmet county sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office says 19-year-old Michael Wichtendahl of Whittemore was driving a 1998 Buick westbound on Highway 9 east of Estherville near the airport when he lost control. The vehicle left the road and struck the roadbed of 430th Avenue, causing it roll end-over-end.
Wichtendahl had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Estherville Fire Department. He was then transported to Avera Holy Family Hospital and was later transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital.
The crash took place shortly before 5:00 a.m.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Estherville Police Department.
