November 22, 2014

(Jackson, Mn.)– Two people were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday on Highway 71 about 10 miles north of Jackson.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 31-year-old Carrie Hemiller of Jackson was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Impala southbound when she crossed the center line. Troopers say the vehicle then rode the north shoulder and slid across the roadway. It then went into the west ditch and rolled.

Hemiller and a passenger, 27-year-old Sara Swift of Jackson, were both transported to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. Both were listed in critical condition.

The vehicle was a total loss.

The crash took place around 3:30 a.m.

The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
