Expect To See Additional Law Enforcement On Roads This Thanksgiving Holiday Period

November 22, 2014

(Undated)– You can expect to see an increased presence of law enforcement on the road this Thanksgiving holiday period. It’s all a part of the latest STEP, or Special Traffic Enforcement Program. Officers are on the lookout for speeders, those who aren’t buckled up or restrained, impaired drivers and those not obeying traffic laws.

The ultimate goal, they say, is to lower the rate of traffic-related fatalities. During last year’s seven-day Thanksgiving STEP project, authorities say 13 lives were lost in traffic crashes.

The Special Traffic Enforcement Program continues through this Sunday, November 27th and involves most local law enforcement agencies.
