(Undated)– The list of northwest Iowa counties remaining under a burn ban is dwindling.
As of this (Mon.) morning, only four counties in the region are under a ban. They include Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Plymouth counties.
Emmet and Osceola counties lifted their bans this past Monday, November 21st. O’Brien county lifted its burn ban this past Tuesday, November 22nd.
Officials in the counties where the bans are still in effect say they will remain until further notice. They site extremely dry conditions and a lack of snow cover, along with very tender vegetation.
According to statistics compiled here at the KUOO studios, only .14 one-hundredths of an inch of precipitation has fallen so far for the entire month of November.
And officials with the National Weather Service say the long-term outlook is calling for a continuation of below normal precipitation.
