(Spencer)– A Hartley man has been charged for allegedly interfering in the apprehension of an Emmetsburg man wanted for attempted murder.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced today (Wed.) 54-year-old Richard Lyles was arrested shortly after 8:00 p.m. last (Tues.) evening on a warrant charging him with accessory after the fact…an aggravated misdemeanor.
Lyles is accused of interfering with law enforcement on November 12th of this year in their attempts to locate and apprehend James Pietrarosso of Emmetsburg who is wanted by Emmetsburg police for attempted murder, first degree sexual abuse and first degree burglary.
Lyles was booked into the Clay county jail where he’s being held on $2,000 bond.
Pietrarosso is accused of entering a home in Emmetsburg on November 12th of this year and using a rope to strangle a woman occupant during a sexual assault. He also allegedly held a weapon against the woman’s neck and head, and used his bare hands to strangle her, telling the woman he was going to quote: “end this now”…unquote. A complaint states the woman became unconscious several times, and that Pietrarosso fled the scene when the incident was interrupted.
According to a DCI press release, Pietrarosso was facing drug-related offenses and was out of jail at the time on bond.
