(Des Moines)– A Spencer woman recently won a $50,000 prize in the Iowa Lottery’s “Holiday Bonus Crossword” instant-scratch game.
50-year-old Pat Stevens said she thought she had only found nine words on her ticket, not the 10 needed to win a top prize. A clerk finally told her she had a ticket worth the top prize and that she needed to go to the lottery office.
Stevens says she plans to use some of her winnings to pay bills and will save the rest.
She purchased the winning ticket at Crossroads in Spencer.
