Warrant Check Results In Drug Arrests

(Spencer)– An arrest warrant check in Spencer shortly before 11:00 p.m. Wednesday landed two men in jail on drug charges.

Authorities conducted the check at an apartment on South Grand Avenue. They were looking for 30-year-old Gary Stinson, who was wanted out of Dickinson county for failing to appear in court on the original charge of possession of a controlled substance-marijuana.

Upon making contact with Stinson, authorities discovered what’s alleged to be marijuana in the apartment. Stinson was arrested and was transported to the Clay county jail.

His girlfriend, 20-year-old Cara Anderson, who was also in the residence at the time, was also arrested and transported to jail.

Authorities then made application for and were granted a warrant to search the residence. They say it resulted in them seizing what’s alleged to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Stinson was then charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver…a class “D” felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor. He was being held on a $5,000 cash or surety bond with an additional $1,000 cash or surety bond for the arrest warrant.

Anderson was charged with possession of a controlled substance-marijuana…a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor. Her bond was set at $1,000 cash or surety.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in its investigation by the Spencer Police Department.
