Car Collides With Manure Spreader

(George)– A George man had to be extricated from his vehicle after it collided with a tractor pulling a manure spreader in Lyon county.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says 52-year-old Craig Deruyter of George was northbound on a county road south of George when the collision took place. Deputies say a 2002 Buick LeSabre Deruyter was driving became trapped under the manure spreader.

Upon being extricated from the vehicle, Deruyter was transported by air to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.

No injuries were reported to the driver of the tractor, 23-year-old Cornell Hoogendorn of George.

Deruyter’s vehicle was totaled; damage to the tractor and manure spreader wasn’t immediately known.

The collision took place around 6:00 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 15th.).
