Newest Member Of Estherville P.D. Sworn In

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– The newest member of the Estherville Police Department was officially sworn into office at last (Mon.) evening’s Estherville city council meeting.

Max, the department’s new K-9, is a Labrador retriever. He’s been certified in the detection of narcotics, evidence recovery and tracking of suspects and lost individuals.

Max started out as an abandoned rescued animal in Montgomery county. He was saved by a deputy sheriff there.

Officer Matt Reineke is Max’s handler. Officials say the two have already been called to duty, having assisted in the search of an Estherville apartment that turned up a substance alleged to be marijuana. Authorities say charges are pending in that case.

Estherville Police Chief Eric Milburn says they are very grateful to residents in the community for their overwhelming support in donations that allowed the department to obtain Max.
