(Milford)– A fire Christmas eve heavily damaged a home in Milford.
Milford Fire Chief Jim Carpenter tells KUOO news firefighters were called to 60 Hill Drive in Milford around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Upon arrival firefighters could see flames coming through the east gable end of the roof, with the blaze threatening to start a neighboring home on fire. The Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire Department was then called for assistance.
Firefighters managed to quickly extinguish the blaze and were able to confine it to the one home, but not before some siding on the neighboring residence was damaged.
The occupants managed to get out unharmed, but one was treated on the scene by paramedics for possible smoke inhalation.
Carpenter says the cause of the blaze is believed to be accidental, but is under investigation.
Firefighters were on the scene until about midnight.
They were assisted by the Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire Department, the Arnolds Park and Okoboji Police Departments, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
