(Spirit Lake)– Spirit Lake Fire Chief David Kollasch says even more land than first thought was burned in a wild fire Chrismtas Day.
Upon further investigation of the site, Kollasch now says it covered more like 217 acres of land.
The blaze north of Vick’s Corner on Highway 86 was the result of a brush fire that got out of control.
Firefighters from Spirit Lake, Arnolds Park-Okoboji, Lake Park and Superior battled the blaze for several hours.
As reported previously there were no injuries and firefighters were successful in keeping the blaze away from some buildings.
