Spencer Hospital To Request Zoning Modification For Parking Project

(Spencer)– Officials with Spencer Hospital will go before the Spencer Zoning Board in early 2012. Bill Bumgarner, Spencer Hospital President, says they’ll be at the Zoning Board’s January 3rd meeting requesting a modification to a special exception use permit on a parcel of property currently owned by First English Lutheran Church at the corner of Grand Avenue and East 10th Street…Click here for comment from Bill Bumgarner

Bumgarner says Spencer Hospital is offering to pay the church the appraised value of the property, $190,000, and also refund the church for expenses associated with building removal and site preparation. Bumgarner says the project, which would include a green space and other aesthetically pleasing features, should result in about 70 additional parking spaces for the hospital and its related facilities…Click here for comment from Bill Bumgarner

Bumgarner says the current zoning has a special exception use for religious assembly only. The modification would change that to allow the property to be used for parking.
