(Milford)– A quick moving grass fire burned nearly an acre of land this (Wednesday) morning northwest of Milford.
Milford Fire Chief Jim Carpenter says firefighters were called to 1982 200th Street shortly before 10:00 a.m. Upon arriving, Carpenter says firefighters found an acre of over grown pastureland on fire. They managed to keep it from spreading any further and quickly put it out.
Carpenter says the blaze was the result of an earlier fire that had spread.
The Milford Fire Department was on the scene about an hour. Firefighters were assisted by the Milford Police Department and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
Area residents are once again reminded of the extremely high fire danger with the lack of snow cover. Anyone planning a large controlled burn should notify their local Sheriff’s Office. In Dickinson county, contact the Communications Center at 336-2525.
