Dickinson Co. Fire Chiefs Opt NOT To Reinstitute Ban On Open Burning

November 22, 2014

(Lake Park)– A decision NOT to reinstitute a ban on open burning has Dickinson county fire chiefs again urging residents to use extreme caution if they must light any fires.

They urge anyone planning to burn to check the latest forecast for wind speed and direction; to have plenty of water available; to refrain from burning near tall grass and groves; and to call the Dickinson County Communications Center in advance of doing any open burning.

They also say any fires should be supervised at all times and that when you’re done, to make sure the fire is completely extinguished and to contact the Dickinson County Communications Center again to let them know the burning is complete.

Anyone with questions should contact their local Fire Chief.
