(Primghar)– A Spencer man has died of injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash Saturday near Primghar.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office says 40-year-old Lance Vergith of Spencer was driving a 2007 Chevrolet westbound on a county road east of Primghar when he lost control. The vehicle went into the north ditch where it rolled several times, coming to rest on its wheels. Authorities say Vergith was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected out of the vehicle’s sunroof.
He was initially transported to Baum Harmon Hospital in Primghar and was later transferred to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls where he passed away due to injuries sustained in the crash, which was reported around 6:20 a.m. Saturday.
About $10,000 in damage was estimated to the vehicle.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, Primghar Fire Department and the Hartley ambulance.
