(Spencer)– Expansion plans are in the works for a Spencer gasket manufacturing company acquired late last year by a California firm.
Ryan Hunter purchased the business assets of SPM International, Inc. in October of 2011. He began SCE Gaskets in Lancaster, California in 1989. The company became a world leader in racing and hard core engine gaskets.
Hunter plans to bring two-thirds of the jobs from the California facility to Spencer. The Spencer operation currently has 8 fulltime employees working in a 30,000 square foot building at 618 East 10th Street in Spencer.
Eventual plans for the Spencer facility include upgrading some die cutting machiens and stamping presses, along with installing a conveyor belt for delivery trucks.
