ILCC Trustees Hear Program Offering Requests

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– The list of program offerings at Iowa Lakes Community College may be about to expand.

The college’s board of trustees Tuesday heard requests to offer competitive cheer and competitive dance. Julie Williams, Dean of Students, told trustees research has shown the programs would assist in the recruitment of full-time students. She added that coaches will target northwest Iowa and southern Minnesota because of the amount of cheer and dance/drill programs being offered in the area. The trustees voted in favor proceeding to the next step.

Trustees also approved requests for proposals to be received by February 10th to revamp two TV rooms at each ILCC campus and to seek equipment for the Rural Utilities Service-Distance Learning and Telemedicine grant the college received for distance learning with local school districts.

Schools that will benefited include Algona, Armstrong-Ringsted, Clay Central-Everly, Graettinger-Terril, Harris-Lake Park, North Sentral Kossuth, Ruthven-Ayrshire and West Bend-Mallard.

The grant will also provide funds to install video conferencing equipment in the partnering school districts.
