O’Brien County Collision Injures Two

November 22, 2014

(Primghar)– A two-vehicle collision Wednesday in O’Brien county sent two people to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol says it involved a 1996 Chevrolet Lumina driven by 29-year-old Eric Bootsma of Sheldon and a 2002 Chevrolet pickup driven by 22-year-old Brian Vanderwaal of Boyden. Authorities say Bootsma was northbound and Vanderwaal was westbound when they collided in an intersection. Both vehicles came to rest in the ditch on the northwest side of the intersection.

Bootsma and Vanderwaal were both taken by ambulance to Sanford Hospital in Sheldon. There was no immediate word on the extent of their injuries or conditions.

Damage estimates to the vehicles weren’t immediately available.

The collision took place around 5:45 p.m.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office.
