Possible Injuries Reported In Hwy 86 Car Vs Fence Collision

November 22, 2014

(Wahpeton)– Possible injuries were reported Monday when a car collided with a fence on Highway 86 in Wahpeton.

The Iowa State Patrol says 17-year-old Michaela Moffitt of Spirit Lake was driving a 2008 Toyota Yaris northbound on Highway 86 when she lost control on the snow and ice-covered road. Troopers say the right side of the vehicle dropped off the road. They say Moffitt then over-corrected, causing the vehicle to slide into the east ditch where it collided with a wooden fence. The vehicle came to rest on the other side of the fence, knocking off two sections of it in the process.

Possible injuries were reported, but Moffitt apparently didn’t seek immediate treatment.

The vehicle was totaled; damage to the fence was estimated at $4,500.

The collision took place around 8:30 a.m.
