(Okoboji)– The city of Okoboji is re-visiting the issue of commercial dock permits in residentially-zoned areas.
The city council earlier this week considered eight such applications. Only three were approved, as they were operated commercially prior to 2007 and were grandfathered in.
The council did agree to re-visit the applications that were denied after reviewing and possibly revising a city ordinance pertaining to the matter.
While the issuance of dock permits ultimately lies with the Department of Natural Resources, the agency does allow the city to give permission to allow commercial docks within a residentially zoned district.
