(Storm Lake)– A fugitive wanted on charges out of Buena Vista county has been captured in Texas.
The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office says a cooperative joint investigation with the U.S. Marshal Service Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force resulted in Darwin Zoch being located and arrested in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Zoch was arrested Monday after fleeing while on a conditional release from federal court. A federal warrant was issued for Zoch after he discarded his GPS monitoring bracelet and fled on or about February 7th.
Zoch was arrested on a federal warrant for violating the conditional release and has state warrants for parole and probation violations. He will be transported to Sioux City by U.S. Marshals.
Zoch and his wife Janelle were originally arrested for videotaping customers in tanning booths in a business they operated in Albert City. During that investigation, guns were found at Zoch’s residence. Zoch was a convicted felon. A joint investigation by the ATF and Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office resulted in Zoch being charged with possession of firearms as a felon. He was ultimately found guilty on the charge in U.S. District Court. Zoch was conditionally released after the trial waiting for sentencing when he took off.
