Pickup Vs. Semi Collision Injures Bancroft Man

November 22, 2014

(Sheldon)– A collision earlier this week involving a pickup and a semi on Highway 60 near Sheldon injured a Bancroft man.

The Iowa State Patrol says 57-year-old Larry Black of Guthrie Center was driving a 2007 Volvo semi tractor/trailer westbound on a county road and was approaching the intersection with Highway 60. Troopers say 21-year-old Jacob Becker of Bancroft was driving a 1997 Ford Ranger Northbound on Highway 60. Authorities say Black was attempting to stop for a stop sign at Highway 60 and slid through the intersection into the path of the vehicle Becker was driving, causing him to collide with the back duals of the semi.

Becker was taken by personal vehicle to Sanford Hospital in Sheldon with non-incapacitating injuries. No injuries were reported to Black.

$100 in damage was estimated to the semi; damage to the pickup was estimated at $10,000.

Officials say freezing rain was falling at the time of the mishap, which occurred around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
