Fire danger on the rise

November 22, 2014

Sioux Falls –

Record-setting temperatures are in the forecast for the next several days, and although rain fell on Monday, The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls warns that Southeast South Dakota, Southwest Minnesota, Northwest Iowa and Northeast Nebraska will see very high fire danger develop this week with the warm temperatures, gusty winds and low humidities in the outlook.

Red Flag warnings are already posted for Western Nebraska and much of the Dakotas. The warnings will likely be expanded as grassland fire danger increases.

The National Weather service is urging caution with all open fire and flame.
