(Spencer)– A semi rollover resulted in a portion of Highway 18 in Clay county being closed to traffic for awhile early this (Mon.) morning.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the 1400 mile of Highway 18 around 2:20 a.m. Upon arriving, they found a 2002 Freightliner semi tractor and trailer on its side in the middle of the highway. Authorities say the driver, 45-year-old George Greene, Jr. of Snellville, Georgia, was eastbound when he lost control.
Greene sustained minor injuries but apparently wasn’t taken to a hospital.
The semi tractor and trailer, owned by On Time Fly, Incorporated, sustained an estimated $80,000 in damage.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by Everly Fire and Rescue, the Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Iowa State Patrol, and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
Authorities say it’s still under investigation.
