(Spirit Lake)– We all know that March was extremely mild around here. And now that the month has concluded and the statistics have been compiled, we can tell you by just how much.
According to weather statistics compiled here at the KUOO studios and submitted to the National Weather Service as part of its Cooperative Observer Program, the average daytime high was 60 degrees…compared with 38 degrees in March of 2011. The average overnight low was 37 degrees…compared to 23 degrees in March of 2011.
We received about half as much precipitation in March of this year compared to March of 2011. .96 one-hundredths, or nearly an inch of precipitation fell in March of 2011, compared with only 47-one-hundredths…or not quite a half inch…this past March. Two inches of snow fell last month, compared to four inches in March of 2011.
